How It All Began
We’re Derek and MaryJo Perry — Mississippi State agriculture grads, lifelong cattle folks, and the hearts behind Barefoot Springs Farm. Our story started at the Poplarville Stockyard in 1984, where we met, then college rodeoed together. We married after graduating in 1989.
Family, Faith & Farming
We raised our three boys surrounded by cattle, horses, and plenty of red dirt and fresh air. They grew up showing livestock in 4-H and competing in Mississippi High School and Little Britches rodeos. Once we got our boys raised, we turned our focus back to the life we love most — raising beef for the community while caring for the land God has blessed us with.
Building Barefoot Springs Farm
In 2012, we settled on our farm in Pelahatchie and began building Barefoot Springs Farm from the ground up. Until 2023, our farm was used to raise beef and eggs for our family, but even from the beginning, we made a simple promise: no shortcuts, no chemicals, no compromise.
Our pastures have never been treated with herbicides or pesticides, and our steers are grassfed, grass-finished, and completely free of antibiotics and hormones.
Our Philosophy
We believe healthy soil grows healthy cattle — and healthy cattle feed healthy families. By nurturing our land and livestock with care, we’re proud to provide clean, local beef you can feel good about serving.
From Our Family to Yours
At Barefoot Springs Farm, it’s about more than beef — it’s about trust, integrity, and connection to the land. We’re honored to share clean food with families who value wholesome, responsibly grown food.
