What Does a Half Beef Cost?

Because cattle vary in size, final cost depends on weight.

Typical Half: ~350 lbs HCW
(Range varies by animal.)

Beef Cost

$6.25 × your half’s hanging weight

Processing Cost

Paid directly to processor
Currently $1.15/lb + any specialty requests

What Should You Budget?

Most families invest $2,700–$3,000 total, including processing.

Final price is determined after harvest when the carcass is weighed.

What You’ll Take Home

From a typical 350 lb half, expect approximately:

• 80–120 lbs ground beef
• Ribeye, strip, sirloin, and filet steaks
• Multiple roast cuts
• Brisket
• Short ribs
• Stew meat
• Soup bones (optional)

Packaged take-home weight is typically 60–65% of hanging weight
(Approximately 210–230 lbs of beef.)

Freezer Space Needed

A half beef requires approximately:

• 8–10 cubic feet of freezer space
• A medium chest freezer
• Or most of a standard upright freezer

Our half beef ranges in weight; therefore, it ranges in price. On average, you can expect to pay in the neighborhood of $2600, which includes processing. The price listed per pound is for hot carcass hanging weight. Weights can vary due to the nature of animals. A 350lb hot half beef is common. Yours could be more or less than that. Customer pays processing fees to the processor which are currently 1.15/lb, plus any special products and handling you may opt for.  NOTE: This is a rough estimate. We have no way to guarantee what an animal will weigh until it is on the scales.

Once you submit your deposit, we will contact you with more information on animal weight and how to complete your cut sheet.

Customers may pick up at the processor in Summit, MS, or opt for delivery for a reasonable fee.
