How It Works (Whole Beef)

Grassfed Beef You Can Trust

Filling your freezer with clean, regeneratively raised beef shouldn’t be complicated.

Here’s exactly how it works:

1. Reserve your quarter
Secure your spot online.

2. Place your $750 deposit
Pay by card, Venmo, cash, or check.

3. We deliver to the processor
Your beef is harvested at Kased Brothers (Summit, MS) and aged properly.
We receive the Hot Carcass Weight (HCW) at that time.

4. Pay your balance
$6.35 per pound based on HCW.
Balance is due once weight is confirmed.

5. Complete your custom cut sheet
A whole beef gives you complete control over how your beef is processed and packaged.

Choose:

  • Steak thickness
  • Roast sizes
  • Ground beef package size
  • Whether you'd like soup bones, organ meats, or fat retained
  • Specialty items such as patties, jerky, or snack sticks (additional processing fees may apply)

Not sure what to choose? I'm happy to help you build a cut sheet that fits your family's needs.

6. Pick up your beef
Ready in about 10–14 days.
You’ll pick up from the processor and pay them directly for processing.
Delivery may be available for a reasonable fee.

What Does a Whole Beef Cost?

Because every animal is different, final cost depends on weight.

Typical Whole Beef: ~700 lbs HCW
(Actual weights vary.)

Beef Cost

$6.25 × your animal's hanging weight

Processing Cost

Paid directly to the processor.

Current processing fees are approximately $1.15 per pound, plus any specialty products you choose.

What Should You Budget?

Most customers invest $5,400–$6,000 total, including processing.

Final cost cannot be determined until the animal is harvested and weighed.

What You'll Take Home

From a typical 800 lb whole beef, expect approximately:

  • 80 lbs of various steaks
  • 160–240 lbs ground beef
  • Briskets
  • Multiple roasts from every section of the animal
  • Short ribs
  • Stew meat
  • Soup bones (optional)
  • Organ meats and fat (optional)
  • And more...

Packaged take-home weight is typically 60% of hanging weight, resulting in approximately 420–500 pounds of finished beef.

Freezer Space Needed

A whole beef requires approximately:

  • 16–20 cubic feet of freezer space
  • A large chest freezer
  • Or a dedicated upright freezer

If you're unsure whether your freezer is large enough, feel free to reach out and I'll help you estimate.

Why Choose a Whole Beef?

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the balance due?

After the animal is harvested and we receive the hanging weight.

Can I choose how my beef is cut?

We send two options for customization since quarters are halves shared with another customer. I’m happy to walk you through it.

Why is pricing based on hanging weight?

Because that is the industry standard measurement before trimming and deboning.

Is this beef USDA inspected?

Yes, it is processed at a USDA-inspected facility.

How long will it last in my freezer?

Vacuum sealed beef lasts at least 36 months in a deep freezer.

What if I’ve never bought bulk beef before?

You’re not alone. Many of our customers start with a quarter for their first time. I’m happy to help you every step of the way.
